On July 28, a floating dry dock for American VIGOR company, with a 80,000-long-ton lift and undertaken by ZPMC, was delivered successfully. It was also the largest floating dock in the USA.
With a length of 292.6 meters, a breadth of 69.4 meters, a depth of 21.5 meters, the dock owned a lifting capability of 80,000 long tons and its diving depth reached up to 19 meters. It could undertake dock repair projects of 300,000 tonnage oilers, bulk-cargo ships and merchant ships.
It is the first time for ZPMC to undertake floating dry dock project, Qidong Marine Engineering ltd. undertook design and construction of the project, whose high quality totally accorded with industry standard in the USA and Europe and was highly recognized by ship owner.
VIGOR is the largest ship building and ship repairing company in Pacific Northwest and Alaska, which has manufacturing base in Portland and Seattle. After completion, the floating dry dock would provide a solid guarantee for VIGOR to expand further requirements of repairing and constructing of large-scale ships along the west coast.
